Below is a short biography of Prof Uche M. Mbanaso
Prof Uche M. Mbanaso
Prof. Mbanaso is a leading Cybersecurity subject matter expert (SME),
and currently the Executive Director, Centre for Cyberspace Studies, Professor, Cybersecurity
and Computing at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria; a visiting academic at the LINK
Centre, Wits University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
He remains a key player in the development of Cybersecurity, in particular development of
Cybersecurity Frameworks in Nigeria. His research and scholarly works include a TETFund
sponsored research project on Cybersecurity and Critical National Infrastructure (CNI),
and has published over 25 research journal articles, and 30 conference proceedings in the
areas of cybersecurity - information and communications security.
He possess the aptitude for mentoring Computing and Cybersecurity mentees – especially
undergraduate and graduate students. Prof. Mbanaso is reputable for supervising research
candidates with well-developed pedagogical skills. He is actively mentoring young students
in tech skills up programmes for dynamic cybersecurity, embedded programming, as well as
robotics.
Prof. Mbanaso earned an undergraduate qualification in Electronics and Communications Engineering
from Nigeria, MSc in Information Technology from the UK, and PhD Communications and Information Security
from the UK. He has delivered outstanding Cyber – related and operational intelligence papers to
conferences, workshops, seminars, etc. He is a member of ISACA (USA), IEEE (USA), The Institution of
Engineering and Technology (IET), UK, Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and EC-Council certified.
